"I think in India." And in this faith I am leaving. I think in India because I went there a hundred times. Boy, I already landed there and met with Kipling's Kim. Twenties, I returned with Avalon, which introduced me to the mysteries of tantric and I went back there with Guenon, from glacial certainties. Thirty years I have traveled between the Bengal and Punjab together with Maurice Magre and Lanza del Vasto. Romain Rolland led me to Calcutta from Ramakrisna, Osborne took me to Arunachala by Sri Aurobindo.I walk a quarter of a century as India, it being in my room. Now it's time to go there for real, to see with my eyes if they are still alive Diogenes and Plato "
The sentence is by Piero Scanziani, I've found this morning surfing the web and I liked it ... right after I felt the irresistible urge to listen to a very old song by Alan Sorrenti, who before turning into commercial music has given the world one of the most beautiful Italian Prog Rock albums of the 70s, "Aria" ..... "Vorrei incontrarti" is the song definitely more easy listening of the album, and the more known ... yet it has a grace that after forty years strikes again.
To be honest, I started to dream about India in the books of Salgari (which, in reality, were set in Malaysia, but geography is not never been my strong point ...), and when I arrive '"Sandokan" on TV ... well, if you have more or less my age, and are Italians, which I speak there to do?
If you are younger than me and you are not Italian, I'm sorry for you ....
At about that time, it began a plethora of relatives or friends who went to India ... someone is even returned, some stayed there ... intimately, I think they did well.
Every time someone started, just watchin' the preparations for the journey, to fill the backpacks most absurd and improbable arrangement of the cars was a sight.

Then of course there were others who went by bus .... In short, India was the place to go ....
Then the '70s are over, I started listening to heavy metal, but when I passed my exam of maturity, which I passed brilliantly enough, as a reward I have asked for a trip to my parents ....
Can you guess where?

Since then I went back six other times in India, the last time was last January, in Kerala ....
We will come back again, because India, like the U.S., like Africa, is a place where you go back .... maybe once that you are infected do not heal over, I do not know, but it 's one of those places where I'm at home .... not on the road, not to discover ... at home.
And I always knew it would be like, a long time before I actually went there .... when I realized that I felt at home in the U.S., it was a surprise ... not for India , no surprises ... I already knew it would be like ...
I have not found Diogenes and Plato, I have not even tried them ... ok, I have not tried myself, actually ...
But I'm looking for a decent price flight around February, I'd like to do the whole valley of the Ganges, by train or bus ....

Namaste ', my friends ....
